Five of the best Android blogs and news sites

Apart from this one. This one is best, obviously, but these are the highlights of the very, very few Android blogs and news sources we bother reading on a daily basis as, frankly, most of the Android sites out there are B.O.R.I.N.G..

1. ANDROID GUYShttp://www.androidguys.com/

android guys

Fairly blandly designed and with perhaps a few too many Adsense units than the human brain can easily filter out of view, but wowee – does it ever have commitment to the cause. Android Guys does a superb job of “editorialising” its content, interspersing good features among the requisite news pieces. We like.

2. ANDROID AND MEhttp://androidandme.com/

android and me

Stupid name, but comprehensive coverage – and they really put the work in and don’t simply rely on press releases and ripping stuff off the big gadget sites. We do admire a site with a good work ethic. We also like.

3. PHANDROID - http://phandroid.com/

phandroid

Really needs to stop covering ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING as not everything is particularly interesting, but for a good summary of all the latest Android news, it’s about as good as it gets. Could do with relying a little less on reporting the hot news stories of the day, mind, although we understand that is sort of what you have to do if you want to be BIG. We also like.

4. ANDROID AUTHORITYhttp://www.androidauthority.com/

ANDROID AUTHORITY

Someone needs to get over there with an emergency install of WordPress, as the template is as dull as you can get – as is the writing style – but it does manage a comprehensive and very regular update schedule. You could get away with only ever reading AA. You’d be bored to tears, but you’d know it all.

5. ANDROIDZOOM - http://www.androidzoom.com/

androidzoom

More of a “list” than a “web site” but seeing as Google’s own Android Market site is so very, very awful, we have little choice but to turn to a third-party provider for our web-based Android Markey browsing. Sort it out, Google – don’t make us have to rely on outsiders to browse the Market on a PC.

If you have any more good Android blogs or web sites that aren’t boring, please drop us a comment. We’d like to check them all out, no matter how small. Just no B.O.R.I.N.G. ones that only feature Motorola press releases and Nokia FCC approval updates, please.

    • You could’ve at least tried to “editorialise” your spam comment, by saying something like “Hey, nice site! Please check mine out :)”

It’s the lack of effort that offends the most.

  1. hey dude….

you asked for android blog names,i came across this one, so i told u to chk it out…. thats no spam…. you want to write a full essay on this blog… boy.. gimme a break….

  2. you want “”me”" to write a full….

add me in between in my previous comment..

  3. Well that’s certainly cleared up any confusion. Thanks.

  4. Your blog keeps getting better and better! Your older articles are not as good as newer ones you have a lot more creativity and originality now keep it up!

  5. I’m going to close my eyes and imagine you’re a real person that came here via a Google search and then decided to stay and become an engaged member of the community because you liked it so much.

    If that’s OK with you.

  6. I usually check out this one: http://www.yourandroid.info

  7. Vicky, I don’t know whether to be happy or sad that you haven’t added my RSS feed to your spam portal.

  8. A web based Android Market site: http://www.appbrain.com/

Getting the apps directly with syncing to the phone.
