Over the months and possibly years if we can still be bothered by then, we hope to build a complete archive of photo samples from ALL Android handsets, as we know how funny you lot can be about camera picture quality.
It’s all well and good picking up a new Android mobile in Carphone Warehouse and being impressed by how it feels in your breast or trouser pocket and the wide selection of ring tones, but you really NEED TO KNOW what the pictures are going to look like when you get the thing home and eventually work out how to email the photos to yourself.
Hence this feature. First up, sample shots from the HTC Magic, also laughably known as the HTC myTouch 3G in developing economies (the USA). Here’s a couple of unedited, untouched original snaps from the phone.
Not bad. Blotchy but passable. Most users report having issues getting a clear, non-blurry photo out of the Magic/myTouch, but that seems to be more of an issue with Android’s built-in camera tool rather than the actual optics of the phone’s snapper.
BUT CAN IT REPLACE A PROPER CAMERA: No.
