Sony Ericsson’s latest go at making a smartphone people might want goes on sale in the UK in early January, with UK retailer Play currently taking orders for unlocked models for delivery from Jan 18 – with an astonishingly huge price tag of £529.99 attached.
Crikey. Sony Ericsson mobiles have been through a bit of a bad period in recent years, so the chances of people wanting a Sony Ericsson phone for over FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS are… hopeful, to put it nicely.
At least Play is offering the Xperia X10 SIM-free and unlocked for all networks, so if you’re desperate for an Android phone, rich, and stuck in a terrible contract somewhere, it could be a solution.
Also, the X10 is, on paper, actually a seriously talented Android phone. With an 8megapixel camera, Qualcomm’s faster 1GHz Snapdragon processor and a vast 4″ 854 x 480 pixel capacitive display, the new Xperia really ought to end Sony Ericsson’s suffering in the mobile world and be the hit mobile it’s been searching for.
