There is a man called Michael Quach. He likes to make Android applications. We have featured some of his apps on the site before – and have not been very complimentary about them.
Today alone, Michael Quach has released Brain & Nerves, Bones, Joints & Muscles and the ever-predictable USA Facts to the Android Market, bringing the Michael Quach app collection up to nearly 90 separate apps. Apps like this:
That’s the Michael Quach style – a collection of tedious facts based around one very narrow theme, placed upon a colourful background. That’s what he does. THAT’S ALL HE DOES!
What is Michael Quach’s “game plan” for this endless spamming of the Android Market? To eventually start charging for an app? To make a living out of the ads? To just give himself something to do? To get offered a job by an encyclopedia company? And we have NEVER heard the term “spongle”.
Please stop, Michael. You’ve already proved your mastery of putting words on colourful backgrounds. There’s no one better or more prolific at doing this alive today.
ALSO BY MICHAEL QUACH:

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ January 6, 2010I’m inclined to agree – 90 painfully dull applications is a bit over the top.
EuroDroid
/ January 6, 2010I suspect he’s thrown himself into app development as some sort of “crutch” for something that’s missing in his life.

/ January 7, 2010Google has ditched developers and apps for spamming the market before, some folks may remember the ‘developer’ going by the name of SapphireApps? They released hundreds of apps to the market, the majority of which primarily featured scantily clad Japanese women. You couldn’t run a search without having at least a handful of these pop up in the results somewhere. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’ve nothing against scantily clad Japanese women, but I don’t want them popping up when I’m looking for a pdf app……Ok, so maybe I do, but that’s not the point damnit!

/ January 10, 2010Indeed! Please Michael, get a hobby.

/ January 14, 2010I second this motion. He is milking the android publishing system for ads – for every one of his 90 apps he does an update on a weekly basis thereby harvesting new users from the order by date tab. It is just noise and it is a disgusting scheme.

/ January 31, 2010Try more like 120 “apps” now. Won’t respond to emails either. What a jerk.

/ February 4, 2010I just published an update to one of my apps, Real Estate Droid, and within 10 minutes, 6 of his apps were above mine on the overall app “just in” page. Boggles the mind.

/ March 10, 2010This guy is actually getting quite a few downloads, I think there is a method to his madness. You figure even if he makes 1 dollar a day on ads per app * 90 apps = 90/day over 30k a year for definitions and quotes. He is going with the brute force approach.

/ March 10, 2010Yeah, the more shamelessly you behave, the better you do. Modern life, eh? :(

/ March 17, 2010I agree his “apps” are complete nonsense. He needs a new hobby from what i make of it. Why anyone would even bother with his apps after one download is beyond me. Uninstall and don’t look back. In the future if you see “Micheal Quach” in the market, roll your eyes and keep scrolling down.

/ May 17, 2010I agree! His apps are CRAP! But why are people rating his apps 4 & 5 stars? He releases about 5-6 apps a day. He recently changed his Android Market name to “Pretty Girls” or something like that. Same crap, different name.

/ July 3, 2010Am I the only one who loves his apps? They are so informative

/ July 3, 2010Mel, I suspect you are “spongled” out of your mind…

/ August 21, 2010I am also disgusted at the number of useless app this man is downloading. I also uploaded my latest update to a health app and was succeeded by 4 of hips &^%&&”##?? apps withi.his 30 minutes !!!. GOOGLE PLEASE REMOVE HIM, this is paramount to unfair trading practices.

/ September 22, 2010Latest app: 100 ways to pee in a girl’s mouth, by Michael Quach

/ October 28, 2010I do agree that apps should be of more quality to be inserted in the marketplace and not just of quantity.
btw shpongle is a UK downtempo/ambient Psychedelic trance artist that is probably connected to the term shown on the app.
Dev
/ November 29, 2010I understand that you dislike his concept. Though he is one of the most successful android developers with this. Quality is not always what pays.
pb
/ December 8, 2010I second that. He’s currently at 239 apps and it’s extremely annoying.

/ December 8, 2010his email address is mmquach@gmail.com …. everyone, overload his email with requests to stop just as he overloads the android marketplace with crap apps.

/ December 11, 2010For the developer who takes a pride in my applications I think Michael Q is simply a leech who discovered way to suck the market. His is really just one app that you can stick any number of text snippets into and carousel through. Lame graphics, lame quotes, however not so lame number of downloads based on simple psychology of flashy names. Also large number of fake accounts to artificially infuse ratings. Plus ads. I’m sure he makes a good penny out of it.
He will never stop, he can only be stopped and it’s not Michel’s disgrace (I’m sure he sees nothing wrong with what he does) but disgrace of people owning the Market (Google) who happily have his apps in their “best of apps”
Matt S
/ December 11, 2010It’s in Google’s interest to filter out his apps in much the same way they filter spam websites from their search. I think in the future the market will have very similar filters to the way appbrain does it.

/ January 6, 2011UM HIS DOCTOR FINDER APP IS AWESOME HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE BEST STOP HATING

/ June 6, 2011I like his psych drugs. It’s brief and gives me the information I need to know without having to have a PHD. I wish it was still available for updates
