Sony XPERIA X10 UK launch pushed back to Feb, but now cheaper

Before Christmas we physically recoiled at the massive £529 asking price Play.com wanted for selling us an unlocked, SIM-free Sony Xperia X10, which although looking like a decent Android phone on paper, suffers from, well, being made by and associated with Sony Ericsson.

But there’s some good news if you are for some reason considering the Ericsson – Play.com has dropped the price of the unlocked UK X10 to a slightly more reasonable £499, although the release date has now been knocked back to Friday February 19.

With Google’s Nexus One already shipping to the UK via Google’s own shop, we can’t help but once again feel a little bit sorry for poor old Sony Ericsson. £400 for a Nexus or £500 for an XPERIA? The X10′s not even out yet, and it’s already been trumped by the Nexus.
