A representative of Irish mobile operator Meteor has given us today’s latest little drip-drip of HTC Hero Android update news, revealing that HTC is now telling operators to expect Android 2.1 to arrive for the much-loved HTC Hero in March.
Here’s what the Meteor man posted on his company’s official forum. You can believe this – he actually asked HTC.
“Just got another update on this and HTC have said they are releasing 2.1 on the Hero and we are hoping to have this available by the end of March.
This will be available via the HTC website and we are also looking at other ways to make this update easier to access for our customers. As soon as I hear any more on this I’ll let you all now because I know the release of 2.1 is something that everyone is looking forward to.”
Finally, some official word from HTC itself. Well done, Meteor Mobile employee Glynn! Someone give that man a gold star for actually bothering to ask HTC.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
