Speaking yesterday to serious business people about HTC’s Q4 2009 earnings figures, Peter Chou, the company’s CEO, namechecked Google’s Nexus One as a reason for optimism and an estimated 30% year-on-year sales rise in Q1 of 2010 – and underlined the company’s commitment to sticking with Windows Mobile.
“We continue to believe both Windows Mobile and Android offer unique experiences to different consumer segments in their respective ecosystems” Chou said, coincidentally on the same day that images of the supposed WinMo-powered HTC Diamond 3 allegedly surfaced on the internet.
Chou also said of the Nexus itself… “Our partnership with Google on the Nexus One shows our strength in innovation. It’s very good for our brand”.
The financial data released shows that HTC shipped a total of 11.7 million mobile phones during 2009, according to business news people, but HTC wouldn’t break that down by handset or operating system, denying us possible bragging rights over Windows Mobile.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
