Android coder presents "Spieleentwicklung 101" – an Android development guide

You may well remember we got a bit excited about Newton, a little physics-based shooting game that popped up on the Android Market at the end of December.

Well, the developer, Bad Logic Games, has been in touch, to tell us he does indeed have a development blog, and to also let us know of “Spieleentwicklung 101” – a German-language Android development FAQ, guide, walkthrough and general help resource.

Which is great, if you’re German or can do German. Here’s how Mario describes it:

“The tutorial is accompanied by an open source project on Google Code (http://code.google.com/p/android-gamedev/) that shows of the basics of android game development with a 3D Space Invaders clone. I’m currently in the process of translating the tutorial to English, given my scarce spare time this might take another week or two.”

And if you get good enough, that’s Newton, the sort of thing you could end up making. Mario offers some great insights into Newton’s performance on the Android Market on his blog here, pointing out his download stats and a few development issues.
