Hooray! Finally we have some HOT FIRMWARE NEWS for the HTC Magic! It may not be the Android 2.0 or 2.1 update we’re literally gagging for, but HTC has instead released a new ROM for all HTC Magic phones that includes the much-loved HTC Sense user interface.
Here’s HTC’s description of the 3.05.401.3 (!) Magic ROM update…
“This ROM Upgrade for your HTC Magic will let you experience HTC Sense on your phone. HTC Sense lets you create a phone just right for you. You can customize your experience to be any way you like. Discover intuitive experiences that make everything you do on your phone effortless and delightful”
You can get it direct from HTC here. Be warned, though – HTC warns it’ll wipe your phone and probably even remove your operator APN settings and suchlike, so don’t even THINK about performing the update if you haven’t got a good few hours to spare fixing everything after…
Go get it, Magic owners. A whole new world of amazing HTC Sense clocks awaits.
UPDATE:
Looks like this update will only work on 32A Magic hardware revisions – the serial number of our UK-spec 32B Vodafone “With Google” Magic is being rejected by the updater.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ January 29, 2010I’m not sure what I find more disturbing, the fact it doesn’t update all specs or the fact that it’ll probably wipe your phone. Seems a bit counter productive with the whole wiping your phone thing going on.

/ January 30, 2010Do you have a “With Google” branded phone? If so, that’ll be the reason.
