It turns out the HTC Magic update ROM that was released a couple of days ago is not the wonderful dream we were all hoping for.
A leaked version of the same ROM hit the internet a couple of weeks ago, and while early users reported superb stability and extra-fast HTC SENSE enhancements on the humble Magic, the core of the update is built around Android 1.5 – so technically speaking it’s a bit of a step backwards.
Plus it’s been confirmed that the Magic ROM update only works on HTC-branded Magics, leaving the vast majority of users, who bought the phone through a network as a “With Google” branded device, or in the USA where it was rebranded the myTouch 3G, facing error messages when trying to update.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
