Adobe: Flash 10.1 will only work on Android 2.1 phones and above

Well, it’s better than nothing, right, Apple?

Electronista is reporting today that the long-awaited arrival of Flash 10.1 for Android phones will only work on newer Android builds starting from version 2.1, due to various technical reasons we’d best not embarrass ourselves by pretending to understand.

Here’s lovely Adrian demo-ing Flash on the Nexus One, as a quick reminder of the world of, er, invasive animating adverts we’ll soon be able to enjoy:

Adobe also said it should have Flash 10.1 ready to roll out during the “first half of the year” according to Electronista, with the new mobile version also hitting webOS smartphones and anything that runs on Windows Mobile.

  1. hmm, interesting, just told my friend with a G1 that he is outta luck! I hope it loads with good speed for me though!

  2. Gah, now it’s first half of 2010? Seems like it keeps pushing back. What’s the holdup? They demoed flash on Android 2 years ago!
