Samsung reveals its M100S Android 2.1, OLED smartphone

With Mobile World Congress a mere week away, a few mobile makers are trying to bag themselves a bit of pre-show limelight by announcing their products this week, before the world goes PHONE MAD.

Such as Samsung here, which has today shown off its M100S, an extremely sharp-looking phone packing Android 2.1, a 3.7″ OLED screen, a 5megapixel camera sensor that’s also capable of recording 720p video, a 3.5mm headphone jack and Samsung’s homemade TouchWiz Android UI layered over the top.

Here it is, looking HUGE because of (a) small ladies and (b) perspective.

It’s due to launch in South Korea in March. It’ll no doubt be given a name slightly more alluring than “M100S” and launched over here soon after. Hopefully the suffering of Samsung Galaxy i7500 owners was not in vain, and Samsung has learned a few important lessons about battery life, the importance of regular Android updates and customer support.
