Boasting the impressively slick version number 1.0.0, the official Wordpress Android app that was uncovered by some clever detective work last month, has today appeared on the Android Market. It looks simple and slick, with tabbed navigation for cramming more onto your screen.
The official blurb reads as follows – looks like you need to have a Wordpress blog running on version 2.7 or above in order to use it…
“WordPress for Android is an Open Source app that empowers you to write new posts, edit content, and manage comments with built-in notifications. Download it now and get blogging in no time. WordPress for Android supports both WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress (2.7 or higher) blogs”
Looks remarkably similar to our favoured wpToGo, especially that right-hand screen – which’ll be because the developer of wpToGo has been working on this official version of the app, meaning this official WP Android app is basically the new version of wpToGo. If that makes sense.
There’s a demo video to watch and more info about what you can and can’t do via Android Wordpress over at http://android.wordpress.org/. And Wordpress is also looking for beta testers for future Android launches, so if you’ve got “good communication skills” check it out the posting and apply.

Geeat, so now we can all start blogging through droids n the Nexus ones. Great to see a compatible app from wordpress.
