Oh, well that didn’t last long. Android tethering app EasyTether, which made us very, very happy during early February while it was in beta testing phase and offered full, unlimited mobile tethering action, has now emerged in an official version – and wants YOUR MONEY in order to continue working properly.
You can still use it for free, but as with PDANet, the free version now blocks HTTPS connections and also UDP links. Whatever UDP links are.
EasyTether is still a decent app, and we’ll no doubt end up paying the reasonable $9.99 unlocking fee for the full version the next time we’re stuck in a stranger’s house with no access to wi-fi. But it’s a shame we’ve lost another good, free tethering option.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
