The long-rumoured additions to the ARCHOS Android-powered media player range have finally been revealed, with the company today confirming the existence of two new Android-powered tablets and sending out some nice photos.
First up, the ARCHOS 7 Home Tablet, the portable media option, which runs Android on a 7″ touchscreen, measures a pleasantly slim 12mm thick and weighs a mere 350 grams.
The ARCHOS 7 Home Tablet also features wi-fi for home network file transfer, while ARCHOS claims its low power consumption lets it achieve a superb seven hours of video playback on a single charge. It’ll be available from April, in two formats – 2GB for 149 euros or 4GB for 170 euros.
And that’s the ARCHOS 8, a very peculiar Android-powered 8″ digital picture frame that also operates as a web browser and media player. No idea how this idea got through the focus groups. The ARCHOS 8 will be available in May, with only the one 4GB model – and a price tag of 149 euros.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
