Android Google Maps updated to 4.1.0 – adds new swipe-able search results and multi-accounts

Your phone ought to be screaming out at you via the medium of a small Notification icon that a new version of Google Maps has just arrived on the Android Market, bringing with it a bullet-pointed list of features that has TWO new points.

Here they are, hot off the screen of our HTC Magic:

- New search result page. Swipe to move to the next result.
- Switch accounts.

And now, some images:

Still no Maps Navigation features in the UK, sadly. Oh, and we had a bit of a ‘Force Close’ issue when loading up the new version the first time…

Also, we’re not entirely sure what is MEANS by new swipe-based search results. We had the same old collection of text lists as before.

And here are a couple of shots from the streets of Paris, Texas. It was the first town we could think of when typing something into the search field.

  1. Swipe searches are a new full page result thing, it’s sort of like the Places directory with one result per page. Including the little compass arrow.

Just hit the small List icon on the map page (bottom right) when you do a search.
