Here’s a print advertisement for the Samsung Galaxy Portal which is featuring in a few UK newspapers today. It would appear that we’re seeing the first Android phone targeted specifically at the LADY USER, thanks to its pre-loaded Layar app apparently being ideal for such cliched female activities as shoe shopping and looking at dresses.
Honestly, Samsung. This is some awful generalisation. You may as well start saying your other phones are “Great for internet porn” in order to make them appeal to men.
And dare we suggest this is why Samsung and T-Mobile think it’s acceptable to launch a phone featuring Android 1.5 as its OS in the year 2010? Because women won’t really notice or care about the OS as long as it looks pretty? Dare we? Dare we say that?
The Portal can be yours (or hers) for £20 a month over at T-Mobile UK. Although they only seem to have the black one.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
