We received an email from a chap operating under the name CodeChimps today, who’s in the process of knocking up a little Android game – which he’s calling Infection.
Infection is a “screen clearing” game, if that’s a genre you gamers recognise, which is “an action game with a biological theme”. Here’s how Mr CodeChimps described it to us…
“Basically it’s a screen clearing game. Different levels spawn different types of enemies at different rates. To get rid of them you place a unit on the screen by pressing down and then drag in the direction you want the unit to go, it’ll destroy everything in it’s path. Each of the enemy types effect your units in different ways – slowing them down or redirecting them.
“You can upgrade your units to make them faster, stronger etc. There’s 25 levels and a survival mode so far, I’ll be adding more once it’s out. Hopefully it’ll be out within the next week”
And here are a couple of shots of the work-in-progress version.
We asked him if he had a blog or a Twitter so you lot can hassle him directly – and he produced a couple of suspiciously recently updated Twitter and blog addresses!
Sorry if we added an extra burden to your life, Mr CodeChimp. You don’t HAVE to have a Twitter and a blog in order to make Android games. Hope we didn’t make it sound like that was a necessity.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
