The Android phone that’s top of every right-thinking man’s MUST-HAVE next new phone list, the stunning HTC Desire – which is basically a Nexus One in a slightly different case – has been listed for release over on Play.com with the discount retailer planning to sell the phone for £439.99 on April 12.
Here’s the visual proof.
That’s pretty much the exact same price you’d pay for importing a SIM-free Nexus One direct from Google today, and you don’t have to worry about VAT bills or dealing with aggressive, poorly-shaved couriers. A lot of money for those used to the subsidised tariff world, but not bad.
And that also happens to be £60 less than a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, which is already starting to look a little dated – and launches with a heavily-customised build of Android 1.6.
UPDATE:
The HTC Desire is also now on Amazon, for a ludicrous £528.
