RUBBISH APP: Estimate Horse Weight

Have you ever found yourself needing a rough approximation of the weight of a horse? Probably not. It’s an extremely specialist area that doesn’t really crossover with the Google Android specialist area.

We’d magine that if you ever DID need to know the weight of your horse, you’d need a precise figure rather than a rough estimate guessed at by your phone. But we are not veterinarians, so please don’t take that advice seriously if you’re in an equine emergency.

    Wow… Talk about a niche market! Perhaps our good friend Michael Quach will publish a ‘Horse Tips’ app to integrate with this fine piece of work!

    He could even do ‘Horse Diet Tips’ for horses found to be overweight, then ‘Horse Nutrition Tips’ for any that need to bulk up.

    This niche can be mined much further.

    I downloaded this when I was bored and decided to test it out while I was out and about on the farm and the results are actually pretty accurate.

    You’re right it is pretty niche, but as someone who loves my apps and also has a number of horses – I am sure I can find an excuse to whip this out and impress my friends.

    This app is far from “rubbish.” I tested it against other calculators and formulas, and it comes out with the exact same answer. Why? Because it uses the same formula! This is a great app, I use it for deworming time with my 9 horses.

    I would love more equine apps! Maybe dressage arena exercises, jumping exercises, training/workout tracker, eventing timer… How about using the camera to evaluate conformation? Hooves?

    Many people weigh horses using just a tape around the middle and a formula, it’s not like people have giant horse-sized scales handy.
