It looks like the next big thing in Android is “entry level” own-brand handsets from the large networks. Orange revealed its Boston Android phone this week, and now it’s the turn of Vodafone – with the phone currently known as the 845.
A post on The Unwired features quite a few spy shots of the new Vodafone Android phone, revealing a rather cramped handset that houses a 2.8″ touchscreen – yet manages to run Android 2.1.
Here’s a look at the thing, which is believed to be a rebadged version of the “Joy” smartphone phone manufactured by Chinese tech firm Huawei – which currently makes low-spec phones like the T-Mobile Pulse for us Western consumers.
Has a nicely stripped-down and simplified button array there, but that enormous surrounding bezel isn’t going to win it any design awards without access to a time machine set for 1987. Still, it’ll be cheap. Bums on seats and all that.


INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
