The ‘Pro’ version of the official Heathrow Airport Android app, which launched to literally ZERO FANFARE a week ago for the price of £1.79, is now FREE according to whoever’s been given the job of updating the airport’s Twitter page – as a way of helping lost, confused and significantly poorer travelers reschedule their ruined flight plans.
Of course, if you’ve been stuck in an airport for the last five days living on over-priced bottles of water and Mars bars, it’s unlikely your Android phone’s battery will have any juice left in it to send a text message or get past the Android boot screen, but it’s a nice thought.
This ‘Pro’ version of the app lets users track flight departures live, if there are any, and do relatively useless things like read security tips, look at a map of the terminals and see a list of the shops on offer to help while away your 48-hour delay. It’s not that good, a fact which gradually dawned on us as we wrote this update.
AppBrain says it’s had fewer than 50 downloads so far. Link via AndroidGuys.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
