Here’s a nice little quote from Google Maps UK head man Steve Lee. According to ZDNet UK today, Steve blamed the popularity of “roundabouts” for the delay in launching Google Maps Navigation in the UK, also adding that it was other mainly technical – not legal – reasons for the extremely staggered launch.
Lee also told ZDNet that a cyclist-friendly enhancement of the app would come out soon-ish. Here’s a particularly brutal version of a roundabout, pictured in Hemel Hempstead. Imagine having to teach a mobile phone how to safely direct a car around this:
NEVER go to Hemel Hempstead, overseas readers. You’ll never get out.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
