Posterous launches custom Android and iPhone (and everything else) mobile layouts

Posterous, which we’ll be frank and admit to having never used and knowing virtually nothing about, has launched a new mobile web layout – designed to simplify and auto-resize Posterous blogs for the speed and ease of mobile readers.

Here’s a graphical illustration of how Posterous sites will look from now on when you visit the site through something that identifies itself as a mobile device, which might mean something to you if you’re in on the Posterous scene:

Read the official announcement over on the Posterous blog, where site owners are complaining (a bit) about the way their mobile readers are forced into using the new streamlined version – which strips out any additional formatting and layout enhancements the site owner has added in the name of SPEED.

It’s apparently also a bit broken on BlackBerrys. But then BlackBerry users ought to be DOING THEIR WORK, not browsing Posterous, so that doesn’t really matter. Link via TNW.

  1. Posterous is the easiest way to blog from your Android so it’s very relevant – now that they’ve fixed the layout issues, I expect it will grow even faster.

To check it out, just email post@posterous and see for yourself.

  3. Give PosterousIt a try. :-)

Its an alternative mobile Manager for Posterous blogs on Android.
It supports viewing *and* editing sites, articles and comments and has some nice features for sending new posts to Posterous, too.
