The superbly well-tuned Android WordPress app has been updated to version 1.2 today, bringing with it two (2) new features – the ability to upload videos direct from your phone to your blog, plus geotagging support should you be running a compatible geo plugin on your WordPress installation.
Here’s the full Android WordPress 1.2 changelist, taken from the WordPress blog announcement:
- Video upload and video sharing to a new WordPress post. If you have a WordPress.com blog, video upload works great with VideoPress. If you have a self-hosted WordPress blog, you may need to install the PJW Mime Config plugin to allow the 3gp video files to be uploaded to your blog.
- Post geotagging support (enable geotagging first in the blog settings window). If you are running a self-hosted blog, install the geolocation plugin to show your location.
- HTC Tattoo Android Market fix.
And here’s a picture of that new video upload option. It is not the most exciting picture we’ve ever uploaded to the internet, to say the least:
On a WordPress-related side note, does anyone have any recommendations for forums that are easy to integrate with WordPress? It’s about time we got one on the go.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ May 13, 2010There is some work to do, but from my tests phpBB3 is your best option for WordPress integration; not to mention that it is a really good and free software package.
