According to a bit of digging by mobile price comparison site Omio, the upcoming HTC Wildfire can be found on contracts starting from a much more reasonable £10 per month, if you’re prepared to buy through one of the many discounting third-party retailers.
Top of the bunch price-wise is a bundle offered through Mobiles.co.uk which will gift you the Wildfire for “free” in return for a £15 per month Vodafone contract with 300 human talk minutes and “unlimited” texts – or you can have a lesser bundle for £10 a month if you don’t mind an £89 upfront fee.
Here’s a rather complex chart showing a few of Mobiles.co.uk’s other Wildfire tariffs:
That’s much more like it. The mainstream networks asking for £20 per month is a little on the INSANE side for such a low-spec Android phone, considering you can pick up the likes of the HTC Legend or, if you’re lucky and quick on the fire button, even a Desire for the same or even less.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ July 2, 2010I ordered this phone on Vodafone on 14th June. Said to expect delivery on 17th…then 24th…then end of June…still waiting! Apparently they have stock of the phone but aren’t licensed to supply them for Vodafone yet. They can for Orange though! Rubbish service, as expected from the CPW empire.
