Google has already started to roll out over-the-air updates for Nexus One uses in the States, with one lucky TechCrunch reporter now “rocking” or indeed “rolling with” a Nexus with Android 2.2 installed. That’s the sort of five-star service you get when you buy a phone direct from Google.
The Android 2.2 Nexus feels much faster, as promised, he says. Lucky him. He’s so happy he took a photo of his screen:
It seems that if you want to be up on the very latest Android developments, you need a Nexus One right now. As lovely as HTC’s range of Android phones is, when they get Android updates depends on when HTC can be bothered building them – whereas the unlocked, unbranded Nexus One is clearly Google’s favourite child.
This is a bit of a game-changer for us – we’re now seriously considering picking up a SIM-free Nexus, partially funding the capital outlay by eBaying the old Magic.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ May 23, 2010For a site named EuroDroid, you should know better: this update only works on the T-Mobile Nexus One. For the UK version, or for somebody that bought the AT&T/Rogers version to use 3G in most of Europe, there’s no update yet – Google considers us third world, no need to rush for those.
That being said, N1 is totally cool, and even if i’ll spend the next few days twitching and inserting the “check for updates” code, when the updates finally arrive it’ll be worth it.

/ May 25, 2010It’s not that they consider us third world Paladin, Google have said all along (check out xda-developers.com for up to the minute FroYo discussion) that the 2.2 update will be staggered OTA, as not to destroy carriers networks. Give it a week or two and your N1 will be humming away on FroYo. Can’t wait myself either but I just can’t get mad at Google, they make you wait but that just makes you want it more. Apple on the other hand… I mean “magical” devices are all very well and good, but I’ve never seen such openness with regards to featuresets, updates, improvements as well as custom mod/ROMming as with Android.
I sound like a right fanboy lol, just excited about 2.2 and flash and yay. :D
