Samsung Mobile Display, which has been implicated in HTC smartphone shortages due to a lack of screen components for new handsets, has said it expects smartphone sales to further ROCKET over the next year.
According to Mobile Magazine, Lee Woo-jong, vice president of marketing at Samsung Mobile Display, says he expects global smartphone shipments to grow by 50 percent this year, to a total of 260 million.
That’s a lot of new telephones. Including, no doubt, quite a few of Samsung’s own-brand Galaxy S:
Astonishingly, Lee Woo-jong also put a figure on the total number of mobile devices he expects to be sold around the world this year, including MP3 players, phones and everything else – as many as 2.2 BILLION.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
