Audible, which is Amazon’s audiobook selling wing, is currently after Android users to help beta test a new Android app. And there’s nothing more exciting than being a beta tester. It is the modern-day equivalent of being a test pilot.
If you’re interested, sign yourself up at the Audible for Android (Beta) group – where, once signed in, you’ll be able to get yourself a QR code for a direct download of the 2.77MB Audible app APK file.
Oh, and you need an existing Audible account in order for it to work.
And that’s as far as it’ll go on an HTC Magic. The group also contains a list of current bugs and problems with the work-in-progress app, so make sure you do a bit of reading up beforehand to ensure it’ll actually work on whatever Android phone you’re currently working with.
UPDATE:
A couple of readers have been in touch to let us know it (a) works on their phones and (b) only works with Audible.com accounts and not through Audible.co.uk. Thanks, chaps.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ June 18, 2010It will work with UK accounts (it does with mine) You have to sideload the enhanced format (.aax) files to the SD card. It won’t work with any title that’s not available as an enhanced format though.
