HTC’s entry level Android dream has launched for ordering on its first UK network, with Vodafone today sticking some price tags and dates on its Wildfire contracts for new customers.
The cheapest possible option through Vodafone is a “free” Wildfire on a £20 per month contract offering 300 calling minutes and unlimited texts, or you can upgrade that to £25 or £30 per month for 600 and 900 plan minutes respectively.
Vodafone “aims” to start Wildfire deliveries from June 15.
All three suggested Vodafone contracts come with Vodafone’s terrible 500MB data transfer allowance, though, which is a bit of a shocker in this day and age. You’ll be switching features off as soon as you’ve got it out of the box.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ June 9, 2010The pricing seems a little high to me for the HTC Wildfire when you can get the far superior HTC Legend for £20/month (100 mins rather than 300mins)….

/ June 9, 2010I think I’ve said this before, but I honestly think the Wildfire is a cash-cow for the networks, seeing as they all had to compete so aggressively for Desire business.
A phone half the price on contracts that work out roughly the same? They’ll be smoking rolled up £50 notes down at Vodafone HQ this time next month.
