Crikey, we didn’t see this coming. Renowned SIM-free phone seller Expansys has bundled together a subsidised deal for the forthcoming Motorola XT720 Android phone, which gives buyers the hot new Moto handset for “free” – in return for taking up a Vodafone connection and a £25 per month tariff.
The Vodafone part of the deal gives buyers 300 minutes of talk time per month and is a 24 month contract. If you find yourself aroused by Motorola’s masculine stylings, this is pretty decent deal.
It’s certainly rather a lot of phone for the price, although the contract is locked to the lesser 500MB data allowance offered on some Vodafone tariffs. So you’ll have to be careful. Expansys says the XT720 is ready to ship in five days.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
