WEEKLY WRAP: Elsewhere in Android this week

OK, we’ll tear ourselves away from live-blogging the Korean boyband scene to round-up the spare parts of Android news from the last seven days. Here lie the mainstream mentions of Android and some of the stories we missed, plus any developments that were too high-concept for us to understand.

Here’s what we didn’t feature this week…

Hands on with People of Lava’s Scandinavia Android TV: a glimpse into the future of TV
That Android TV we mentioned a while back is dangerously near launch, and seems to be getting a rather good “reception” (TV joke).

Android deemed minnow compared to iPhone and BlackBerry
Pocket-Lint had a go at understanding that rather complex Neilsen data. It’s not the sort of chest-beating Android data we’ve come to expect :(

Streak flashes its Android at us
Hooray! After a few weeks off, The Sun is back on the Android bandwagon with this rather positive look at the Streak. We’ll have to stop linking to The Sun soon, once the Murdoch paywall goes up…

Unrevoked
One-click root access for the HTC EVO 4G and HTC Hero through a simple download? Please can someone make a version of this for the Vodafone Magic?

Samsung announces Galaxy Tab tablet computer
The Telegraph, ever-aware of the importance of search engine traffic, did something about the Samsung sPad or Tab tablet, whatever it might eventually be called.

Exclusive: More Droid Xtreme Shots Released
Another too-large screen that’ll eat battery? Great. Our next Android purchase will be judged on its battery performance alone. Getting less than a day of casual use from a phone is a joke.

Sony Ericsson prepping a 5-inch Android phone with QWERTY keyboard?
A photo of a large new Sony Ericsson QWERTY apparently leaked this week. Looks a bit suspicious to us. We don’t want to fall for a fake job. Better to be cautious than have people saying “LOL” at you on the internet.

Zong Hopes to Offer One-Click Android Payments
We were going to mention this, but got sidetracked and forgot. Probably wandered off to make some tea. A full investigation has been launched.

Famed iPhone emulator dev “ZodTTD” bringing the goods to Android. Encore: N64 emulator to follow soon after.
Games that weren’t designed to be played on Android don’t work very well on Android. If you want unreadable text and a botched control system, be our guest.

And that’s that. We’re going to stop using the internet now, hopefully for as long as 35 minutes. See you all tomorrow, this evening, or in 36 minutes time.
