We haven’t actually played this one yet, but we can’t help but admire the rather classy design and style of Frosteam‘s new Android puzzle game Amtalee. It seems to be a 3D version of the rather commonplace block-sliding puzzle, albeit one that looks extremely stylish.
Here’s how the maker describes it:
“Amtalee is new puzzle game for Android mobiles. To solve each level you must figure out a way to guide the block through obstacles and let it slide into exit hole. Use switches to toggle bridges and teleports to cross chasms. Double tap the screen or press trackball to switch cubes in prism split mode. On some tiles you can’t stand upright. After several easy levels the real fun begins, where reaching the exit will be more difficult”
And here’s why we’re impressed:
Lovely. We’ll give it a go. It’s on the mental things-to-give-a-go list. There’s a video and more over on the maker’s site, if you fancy seeing it in action. Here’s a QR code for the eight-level free demo version – the full version of Amtalee costs $3.99 and has 60 levels.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ July 3, 2010Thanks for the tip. I tried the demo, I like it. Unfortunately sometimes I swipe a little off and when I am almost done a puzzle the block rolls off the edge when I didn’t mean it to :( kinda ruins the experience.
On another note, I read your site through Google REader on my Nexus One. Check out this link. It would be awesome if you linked the QR code to the market:// link. Then people on the phone will be able to link to the app, instead of having to search for it. http://www.brentonklik.com/2010/07/qr-code-link-standards/
