Here we go. The upcoming Orange Android phone that was leaked earlier today has been tracked down by a couple of readers – it was previously known as the ZTE Blade, and was shown off by ZTE to little fanfare this February at Mobile World Congress.
Spec wise, this is not the “entry level” phone we were led to believe – it features a 3.5″ capacitive touchscreen that runs at 480×800 resolution, and ZTE even claimed it had an OLED screen back at MWC. It should be rather useful, as long as there’s a decent processor inside.
Here’s PROOF:

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ July 13, 2010Glad I was right about something for a change!
Interesting to note that the phone will come with 2.1 instead of 1.6 which was originally stated for this device. The AM-OLED screen and FM Radio are nice touches and if it’s really 480×800 capacitive then I’d be very interested in buying one. Of course it depends on the CPU but I expect this to be running the same Qualcomm MSM7227 600MHz CPU as the ZTE Racer. It’s unlikely to be a Snapdragon at the price range Orange are putting the phone into.

/ July 13, 2010i hope this comes for 150 pounds eh ? wouldn’t that be a clanger for everybody.

/ July 13, 2010Well, Three are selling the ZTE Racer for £99 on Pay as you go which requires a £10 top-up, so I expect Orange to sell the Blade for a similar price.

/ July 14, 2010This would not be first with wvga and msm7227 like Kyocera Zio. But if the equip it with its successor msm7230 based on cortex a8.
