HTC: We’re “heavily investing” in new phone-production facilities

Speaking regarding the rather chaotic (volcano-enhanced) STOCK CRISIS that rather ruined the launch of the HTC Desire across Europe, HTC’s UK exec director Jon French said the company is investing in its production line to ensure such crazed shortages never happen again.

Here’s what French told Mobile Magazine:

“We are catching up. We are still in a position where the demand keeps growing and like any good manufacturer, it takes time to build up capacity just to meet demand so we are doing that now by very heavily investing in new production capacity and we will catch up very, very soon”

Mr French also firmly denied the old rumour about stock supplies being purposefully limited in order to create a false impression of demand. Anyone who tried to buy an HTC Desire in April/May will know both the stock shortages and demand for the Android phone were very, very real.
