Third-party phone shop Dial-a-Phone is offering an HTC Desire for “free” on an 18 month O2 contract, for an amazing £20 per month (the bottom tariff on that page). That’s only £360 over the lifetime of the contract for the planet’s hottest Android phone.
This is a puzzlingly HOT DEAL, but has been bought and confirmed as genuine by many users over at HotUKDeals so there’s no worrying about it’s authenticity. Here it is, in our test basket. We might actually get one for this price:
As for the contract, as if that matters – the Desire will come locked to O2 and with an O2 SIM card in its slot, offering 100 minutes of calling time per month and unlimited text messages. But for £20 a month, that’s not really the issue. It’s a bloody cheap HTC Desire that’s easily unlocked for all network use.
You’ll need an O2 “data bolt-on” if you plan to use the SIM it comes with, though. And remember to cancel all those “Extras” as soon as it arrives.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

Saunalahti -carrier in Finland offered HTC Desire for 19,90€ / month. This included full speed, unlimited internet, free calls for other saunalahti customers and 2400mins free mins for all other finnish carriers. This is canceled tho because of massive demand that they and htc could not supply.

/ August 11, 2010I went mad and placed an order. Suspect it’ll also be cancelled, but you never know.

/ August 12, 2010Did anyone else order one of these? I’ve had two emails from D2P saying they’re “still processing” my order, and suggesting I phone them on their 0844 number to talk about it.

/ August 13, 2010Deal confirmed. O2 wanted a £100 “deposit” though, but that’s refundable after three monthly bill payments have been made.
There will be an HTC Magic on eBay next week.
