WEEKLY WRAP: Elsewhere in Android this week

So here we are, on a Sunday, head slightly spinning from the week’s information OVERLOAD, writing up a summary of the Android news we didn’t write about over the last seven days. What did we miss? What did we ignore?

And what did we not write about because we didn’t quite understand the implications of it and we didn’t want to look silly in public? This lot. The residue of the week.

LG Goes With Nvidia Chip in New Smartphones
Dual-core processors for future LG phones, courtesy of Nvidia. We probably should’ve mentioned this. It would’ve been a good excuse to use yet more sexy LG photos.

LG shockingly says its Android Optimus tablet will be better than the iPad
What a weird thing for everyone to get so excited about. A man saying a product will be good. Glad we didn’t mention this.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Android Tablet Coming Soon
This is exciting. Samsung will show off its Galaxy “Tab” at September’s IFA European tech show. We like IFA, mainly because of Miss IFA

Google Chrome tablet computer ‘on sale in November’
We need your advice on this – should we mention the Chrome OS or not? Technically its a rival, but… it’s Google. Albeit Google competing with itself.

Android app secretly uploads GPS data, warns Symantec
These odd security stories are rather tiresome.

Why Oracle vs Google won’t harm Android
It’ll either be settled out of court, or be settled by an arm wrestle. It won’t impact on us.

55 million smartphones to ship with Android ‘this year’
We’re boycotting news sourced from Digitimes. Digitimes seemed certain that Microsoft was buying Blu-ray drives to put in Xbox 360s a couple of years ago. Digitimes makes stuff up, as far as we’re concerned.

RIM Must Switch To Android Now, Before It’s Too Late
RIM’s still in the lead by miles. It doesn’t have to do anything of the sort.

Exclusive: Dell Thunder prototype preview
Nearly did this, but you can only copy so many stories from Engadget in any given week before starting to lose your own sense of self respect. Although this rule doesn’t apply to everyone, DOES IT?

Google runs out of Nexus One developer phones
If we were doing this as a proper job, and had to hit a quota of posts per day, we may have been desperate enough to have mentioned this. Fortunately…

OpenFeint update bringing Android vs iPhone cross-platform play
Nearly did this, but weren’t quite sure if it was new. Or how it works. Or what it does. Sounds exciting, though! And OpenFeint is definitely on the up.

Check in to TV Shows, Movies and More with GetGlue for Android
“…users can check in to entertainment such as television shows” :(

We’ll leave it at that. Starting to get angry and bitter for no discernable reason. See you later or tomorrow, everyone! Thanks for being there for another week.
