This is a rather peculiar recent new arrival on the Android Market. It’s basically an advert for colourful E-number based confectionery brand Skittles, only wrapped up as a photo editing and sharing app.
Capture the Rainbow lets users throw rainbows up on their photos, as a homage to the recent internet rainbow trend – and also as a subtle reminder of the “rainbow” of flavours provided by the Wrigley company’s product.
Here’s the description:
“Bring some color to your everyday life and create special postcards with Skittles rainbows! Add double rainbow, some Skittles or even a circle rainbow to your screen before you take a photo. Capture that special moment and share it with your friends on Facebook”
And what it looks like:
We suspect this isn’t going to generate as much “brand awareness” as the makers are hoping. Who really wants to put images of Skittles on their photographs?

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
