A reader’s just forwarded us the latest Samsung email newsletter, which reveals the company’s plans to launch a chunky battery-enhancement pack to increase the battery life of the Galaxy S. It’s not just a replacement battery, it’s a completely new housing for the entire phone.
It’s all in German, so consider this us putting the “Euro” into EuroDroid for once.
Thanks to Daniel for the message, who says the text says the battery pack adds 8.5 hours to the rated talk time of the Galaxy S and an additional 500 hours of standby time. We could’ve worked that out, German’s pretty easy to approximate.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

That’s utterly hideous.

/ September 3, 2010That is the ugliest upgrade I have ever seen. Why can’t they simply explore a different battery material (Li-Poly for example that they love sending reviewers so it’s created already)? Supporting 2.2 will help this issue some apparently, but again this is not a primarily software issue – the screen takes up 50-80% of the battery on average.
Why the hell should I make my new phone look like crap to fix their bad design flaws?
