We doubt this is much of a niche app, as we’d imagine there’s a pretty big crossover between Android fans and satellite TV hobbyists, but anyway. DishPointer Pro is a cool little “augmented reality” app that shows you where satellites are, so you can line up your own dish. Or just look at satellites.
Ideal if you have a moveable dish, or are setting up your own freesat dish to avoid having to pay an installation man.
There’s a rather huge catch in the price – a whopping £11.99. But if you’re saving on installation fees, that’d presumably pay for itself soon enough. And yes, we dream of one day having a motorised satellite dish.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ September 7, 2010How sad is this I have used this app and all other Android sat apps.. This one is quite cool but i found Satellite Finder was cheaper $2.99US and bit more use..

The Satellite Finder does the camera thing and the app allows you to place your phone on top of the lnb and it will beep when pointing in the right direction.

/ September 7, 2010Cheers, Tom. Always good to have a perspective from an enthusiast. One day I will have a moveable dish of my own.

And thank you for the cheaper solution. Did you make it by yourself?
Best Regards,
