T-Mobile: Samsung Galaxy S getting FroYo "at the end of the month"

There have been a few conflicting rumours surrounding the status of the Android 2.2 “FroYo” release for the Samsung Galaxy S, with various outlets telling us this week that it’s been put back to October.

But that’s not the case for users who bought their phones through T-Mobile in the UK, at least, with T-Mobile UK this morning confirming Android 2.2 will be ready by the end of September. Here’s what T-Mobile has just said on the matter:

We are pleased to announce that there will be a software update for the Samsung Galaxy S at the end of the month. This will update your phone software to Android 2.2 and will be available through the Samsung Kies PC application

So that’s the end of September. Which is pretty good going, considering Samsung and HTC’s track record in getting these things out. Of course, it’s entirely possible that the announcement person doesn’t have the most up-to-date information from the development people, so… believe it when you see it.
