Flickr’s announced a minor upgrade to its mobile web portal, which will allow direct uploads to the image sharing site for Android users. There’s a catch in that you need Android 2.2 in order to make it work, though, which seems rather an odd requirement for a mobile web tool.
Here’s a little snippet from Flickr’s announcement:
If we see that you’re coming from an Android 2.2 device, we’ll give you an upload link right on the Flickr homepage. This takes you to our mobile upload page where you will now see the option to simply “Choose a file”. Selecting this button gives you access to your photo gallery, where you can conveniently select the photo you like to upload and then send it to Flickr via the “Upload” button.

Thanks, Yahoo. Very selfless of you to embrace the product of a fierce competitor like this.
