Archos 70 Android 2.2 tablet now on sale in the UK – for £269

There’s a new Android tablet out to take the place of the pulled Toshiba Folio 100, in the form of the 7″ Archos 70 Internet Tablet – which you can pick up from Dixons for £269.99 right now. It’s in stock and ready to go [UPDATE : It's now showing up as "unavailable"].

The Archos 70 is powered by Android 2.2, features the proven 1GHz Arm Cortex A8 processor as found in the Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab, supports wi-fi 802.11n and comes with a collection of pre-loaded apps like Touiteur, Fring and Mewbox.

It really ought to be a good one. A company like Archos should be able to deliver, what with its heritage in providing cheap media players to the masses for many years.

    This looks like it could be a nice little tablet. The only downside I can see is the screen resolution – I would rather have seen it with a 800×600 resolution like it’s big brother the 101.

    I’m waiting for the 101 to become available – It’s only gonna be 30 quid more :-)

    Although the if the Galaxy Tab price keeps dropping…

      The ‘big brother’ 101 will have a 1024×600 resolution. I think this product will be far superiour to the Galaxy Tab, and even with a lower price tab.

  3. Fairly reasonable price and it’s android. Better than an IPAD, great if you wanna watch DIVX movies. Even has a HDMI connectivity!
