Expensive UK supermarket chain Waitrose has launched an Android app, which brings together loads of Christmas recipes and tools under one very impressive user interface.
It’s not a shopping app, merely a way to encourage people to cook things and make cakes and stuff. There’s also an interactive “Turkey Timer” that calculates how long you need to roast your dinner for, plus links to share foody stuff via Twitter, Facebook and email. It’s very clever.
The sort of needlessly flashy thing you’d expect to find on iPhone, it’s good to see major retailers starting to bring their promotional tools to Android as well. Find this on the Android Market by searching for “Waitrose”. It’s free.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

That thing uses an awful lot of permissions

/ November 25, 2010Not really. The app accesses the internet, allows you to find local stores based on your location and will allow you to call them. Nothing dodgy, nothing to worry about.
