Hooray! Game Dev Story, the rather niche iPhone game about working in the video game development industry, has launched on Android – with developer Kairosoft releasing its iPhone SMASH on Google’s OS over the weekend.
Basically you run a video game development team and are charged with developing a smash hit, managing budgets and hiring talent. Here’s the description:
Manage your own game company and try to create a million-selling game in this unique simulation. Features the ability to develop your company’s own game console, plus a system for changing your staff members’ professions.
Your staff members can have a variety of game-related professions, from programmer to sound engineer
And here are the shots. Looks like the developer has just put iPhone grabs on the Android market listing, which is a little naughty…
Game Dev Story is probably of most interest to those of you with an interest in or job to do with video games. The iPhone version went down a storm with game nerds. It’s on the Android Market now, for 400 Japanese yen.
Which translates to around £3.00 if you get a good exchange rate out of your bank.
UPDATE:
We’re put together a gallery of screenshots from the Android game here.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ January 5, 2011I love this game. I was just about to ask the same question. Bummer, wish I could move it to the SD card. I need some more space!
