This is a coincidence. Only last night we were mundanely tweeting about how much we enjoy using the Android Kindle app, which, when combined with an out-of-copyright book database like Project Gutenberg, means access to a virtually unlimited collection of classic novels for free.
Today, Amazon has announced a rather more up-to-date arrival – access to Android specific versions of newspapers and magazines via the Android Kindle app.
At least, we think this is a new feature. Amazon emailed us about it this morning and we don’t remember seeing it before when trying to buy papers on Kindle – just a warning that newspapers weren’t available on the app versions of Kindle.
The selection of newspapers and magazines available on Android Kindle at the moment isn’t great, mind. As usual, it’s a rather US-oriented range, with only the likes of the Spectator and Economist offering the UK editions – and a heavy emphasis on business publications.
Check out what’s available on the Android Kindle app over at Amazon.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
