Google man Eric Chu has spoken about the Android Market payment options, with the happy announcement that an in-app shopping system will soon arrive on Android. In fact, it was due to appear at the end of 2010 but was delayed due to developers being “busy.”
Chu said in-app purchases should be ready this quarter, with direct network billing options in tow. Hopefully not just in America, Eric. Don’t just talk to Verizon about this.
The lack of a simple in-app “micro transaction” system to allow publishers to charge users money within games and apps is one of the continuing whinges about the Android ecosystem. It’ll be good to get it fixed. Even if no one actually uses it.
