The usually very reliable UK business site City AM is claiming that HTC is teaming up with Facebook to create the mythical “Facebook Phone” that’s been rumoured to be in construction for quite some time.
City AM’s source says the two HTC Facebook phones will be based around the Android OS, only heavily customised in both their physical appearance and software to match the Facebook branding. The end result will be a phone that pushes your Facebook status message directly to the Home screen, with support for Facebook voice calls and messaging built-in.
Here’s a photo of the Android Facebook app running on our HTC Desire. It’s the best and most appropriate illustration we could think of:
City AM makes a bit of an error in its report by calling HTC the “Korean manufacturer” but that aside we have no reason not to believe this one. Link via SlashGear.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
