Vodafone UK has released an Android update for owners of the Samsung Galaxy S bought through the network, bringing Samsung’s popular Android phone up to version 2.2.1 of the OS. Here’s a snippet from the update notes published by Vodafone:
A new maintenance release for the Samsung Galaxy S is now available. This is an Android platform update to 2.2.1 which introduces a number of fixes and improvements which include;
Improved battery life
Improved device stability and performance
Improved Music Player, Email and other application launching speeds.
Improved connectivity with the KIES software
A subsequent announcement said that the calling option to specify “GSM only” mobile calls has been “left out in error” and will be added back in a later update. Whoops.
As you might expect, there’s a thread full of capital letters, sad smiley faces and anger about the lack of GSM options over on Vodafone’s forum.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.
