The rabid users of the XDA forums are currently going wild for a newly leaked Android update for the Samsung Galaxy S – which appears to be the official Android 2.3 “Gingerbread” OS upgrade that’s set to arrive for Samsung’s flagship Android phone soon.
We’ve already seen a beta version leak – now this is the real thing. Here’s an unrelated image of happy Galaxy S users:
This news has made their day. Installing the 2.3 update outside of the safety net of Samsung’s official KIES channel is a risk, but if you’re a maverick and willing to take it everything you need to get Android 2.3 on your Galaxy S can be found over at XDA.

INQ’s Android phone is an interesting “boutique” piece of hardware, packed with unique interface customisations that go far beyond the headline Facebook integration. We like it a lot.

/ March 27, 2011I like the part of the XDA thread where someone called Samfirmware gets upset over someone claiming they leaked the firmware. This is speckled between users taking about the intricacies of the rom and others who clearly don’t know enough about anything to even type on the thread. I’ll wait for the official update especially as 2.2.1 is pretty outstanding.

/ March 28, 2011I upgraded my galaxy s to froyo 2.2.1 from a internet website
It now works like a charm, phone dosent have any lag at all, never freezes, heaps more improvements, even the antenna (built-in) has been modified, and now i get almost full bar reception where ever i go. at the start, 3G dose not work, but you just have to apply your providers settings into the fone and it should work fine

/ March 28, 2011Im finding Kies messes with my pc for some reason. When I first installed it I got a message from my antivirus saying it was unstable but I chose to continue. Then My pc froze. Restarted and it was ok, but now have issues on webistes which makes no sense, except when I remove this program and reset the settings it works fine again – until I reinstall, so maybe installing the unofficial offical update will be the best option for me..
